There and Back Again !

Oh yes, for all you 'Hobbit' fans, I have copied the line from there but not to narrate my adventures. [Well, honestly I wish I would be the part of such adventures.] Having said that, let me tell you 'Why this caption'?

Its been more than a couple of years, which looks to me like eons, that I have literally penned down anything. Not that I didn't get the ideas, but somehow I found every reasons to find an excuse. "Oh, I don't have a pen right now to write." ..."Oh, its night, I'll write in the morning" ...."Oh, who will open the laptop everytime an idea pops up...I'm too lazy for that"....etc etc... And this is where I landed... NO WHERE.

Today something has got into me, which says, "Come on Maddy, you have done it once, you can do it again...go write something...Anything...even if it may seem gibberish to others.."

So, here I am. I had a passion of writing one [i.e. 'There'] and I am determined to revisit my passion with even more intensity ['Back again'] ...

Hope to see you guys reading my posts and commenting on them.. Keep posting and don't let the thirst for reading more fade away...

Tada...

Eulogy

Baljeet aunty . A strong optimistic woman who lived with no fear in her heart and a lot of courage in her spirit. Often we went to her home, to meet our friends, Balwan and Chintu. They have been living in our Apartments in Hyderabad two floors below ours for the past decades almost. Serving us hot parathas served with ghee, speaking to us about our future. She was amongst the few who supported me when I changed my field from IT to Journalism. Against the why’s, do/do nots, she explained to my mother that I should do what I like and identified me as the “generation of those people who had no choice but engineering”.
Anyway, it pains my heart when I learnt that she is not amongst us anymore. It hurt even more to read it in the paper that it was a cruel accident (the link: http://www.hindu.com/2010/09/07/stories/2010090761390500.htm ). Never would one want to see the name of their closed one like this in the paper. My hands trembled to compose a mail to her son who lives in New Zealand to speak of Aunty’s death as he was a student carried no mobile. One of the reasons, I share this ghastly incident is to convey that our society is not divided on caste, sex or religion. It is divided on basis of money, the rich and the poor.
On probing further in to the matter, the person who hit aunty’s cab said that his driver did it and he is absconding. How convenient!

“Unfaithful” or “Modern Day Morality” ??

Prostitution takes its roots from the early civilization.
how it all started and why is it all practiced is not the intended topic of discussion here.

HE and SHE are husband and wife. Any pronouns used as ‘HIS’,'HIM’,etc refers to husband and ‘HERS’,’HER’etc refers to wife.

Consider he and she to be third parties. Any references made like ‘his’,him’,etc actually consider the person ‘he’ and the references made like ‘she’,’her’,etc consider the person ‘she’.

All in all ‘she’ can enter ‘HIS’ life and ‘he’ can enter ‘ HER’ life !
'he' and 'she' are regarded as 'stepney' or 'keep' in widely used terms. though these terms are harsh/awkward seem right in their usage.

Case 1:
SHE-HE are recently wedded.

SHE is a Software engineer and HE too is a software engineer by profession, both working in global companies.

SHE finds a companion in him at work, both working in the same Company but in different teams and they both are together most part of the day in their leisure time. Both reside nearby in locations where mostly IT people stay. Both come to the office early and leave early together, that’s thei r office timings as well.

Whereas HE comes home late in the evening. Poor guy, don't know what is HE working so hard for.

SHE and he were lovers before SHE married HIM and HER-his love-life continues after HER marriage to HIM. Don’t know whether HE spends the required time with HER in the bed and out of it. Don’t know whether this is the cause for HER to find HER companion. SHE-HE live together well with affordable luxury. SHE-HE is otherwise a happy couple.

SHE need a big house bought,a luxury car to take HER out, need HIM to take care of HER during times of illness,Mangalsutra to earn respect from society, all HIS hardwork to make HER happy. Does SHE deserve all that from HIM?

Case 2 :
SHE
is a housewife and HE is a Software engineer in an MNC. Theirs is a religious family.

HE loves HER very much and doesn’t deny HER anything SHE asks for. They have their own house and leading a decent life.

Don’t know when did a storm hit their roof, SHE has found a companion in him who can show HER heavens in bed !

Otherwise they are happily married.

Case 3 :

SHE runs HER own little shop and HE is a business-man.

HE has to spend a lot of time outside home and that’s HIS business requirement as well.

Unfortunately HE not only spends HIS time outside home for business but also in bed with other women!
Otherwise they are seen as a happily married couple in the neighbourhood.

HE need HER to take care of the house for HIM,HE need HER for cooking HIS meals,HE need HER by HIS bedside to take good care of HIM during times of illness. Does HE deserve all this from HER ?

how are 'prostitution' in its original and well known meaning and 'satisfying hunger for lust outside marriage' different from each other? One significant difference i find is that one is practiced for money and the other to satisy lust, the other difference lies in the way society treats both classes of people.

What do you say about these civilized husbands and wives who want everything from their spouse but seek somebody else for pleasure in bed !!!!!
Is it right to call it as ‘unfaithful’ or can it be accepted as a ‘modern day morality’ ?

BOOK REVIEW:: Snapshots from Hell by Peter Robinson

Snapshots  from Hell falls under the genre of Business/ Biography. The book is journal of Peter Robinson, a fresher at Stanford Business School. In this funny communion of latent truth about MBA classes, Peter packs our minds to his journey to leap beyond his classmates’ excellence and making a living for him. Peter Robinson has presented an average student point of view on how he manages to get hold of the nitty gritty of the daily life.
The story intelligently begins with Peter Robinson having a walk with the President, thus capturing our attention from page one, where in they discuss why he should or should not go to the Stanford. He outweighs business against Law, Politics, and Journalism and gives a logical reason for him to do an MBA. Peter brilliantly defends an MBA for a mantra to a life filled with pleasure and luxury.
However, once in class, where there is an evident disparity between people like Peter and Poets of the class (who excel).Peter feels suffocated in the first few weeks, lamenting of the scarcity of life in the big campus. Owing to his last job, he has been oblivious to the world of numbers since his school, hence Peter feels lost. He tries his best gaining momentum in the Math world. . He tries to befriend others like him but slips miserably Snapshots from Hell speaks of his struggle within the classroom and his hostel (which he calls it as a dark hole)
From the hard toil for the exams, to the transformation from shorts-to-business casuals, Peter in his journal, writes for those who dream of pursuing an MBA, this book helps you  learn about the various nuances of the course. Questions like 1) Why should one do an MBA? and 2)What can be expected of the much-hyped MBA schools is very well presented. What sets this books apart is the illustrations and the language which is not layman yet appealing. Peter takes us to his class room, to his hostel and even to the examination hall. A reader would feel like Peter’s shadow .
“Fabulous..it’s fun, it’s wild, it’s weird, I loved the book” comments TOM PETERS,a B-guru

Sometimes it's just your day !

Hey all, tell me have you ever come across a feeling like: "May be this wasn't my day" or "May be this was my day" ? We all believe in Luck, how often we might speak of the famous quote
“Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration!”.

You might also have come across many experiences you have witnessed to corroborate the fact that luck is one factor along with your efforts which work wonders even when you had moments of doubt.

I was watching FIFA World Cup between Uruguay and Germany yesterday, and was wondering why Germany couldn't make even one goal in the Semi-Finals. Or, remember the Placement seasons during College? Whatever you did (even cheating in the Apt test), but you couldn't make it if it wasn't your day.

So dearies, work hard of course but leave the rest to your luck. Believe in the saying that, "The more I work hard, the more lucky I become." But also believe that sometimes it's just your day !

Why is America the superpower, why not India?

Why is America the superpower, why not India?

America is the strongest nation in the world,we all have to agree without a trace of doubt.

Yes,true. Why not India, the superpower instead?question is quite obvious but seems silly and makes us all laugh.

Lets look at the reasons that took away India’s place of being the superpower:

1.Malicious Political system and bureaucracy :MLA contestant spends about Rs. 10-50 crores for one election.when he comes to power, his first goal is to recover that money, next is to make money for next election and next is to make money for his family and then generations to come.plight of the people will never be in their mind to worry about. If a good person/administrator is incapable of rigging ,maintaining rowdies, pouring money during election, he’s sure to get defeated. So it’s bastards who wear white and white and make it to the palatial abode.what good can you expect of them?
There are not less than a thousand political parties here.mostly it’s a coalition government which is coming to power off late. They spend most of their time and Govt’s money in accusing each other and protecting their own chair.they don’t have much time either for the country or for their countrymen

Not to talk of bureaucracy, officials are so corrupt that they are only bothered about making money.

India being a Democratic country, political system and Bureaucracy stands at the top of the list to lead the country to growth and this is playing a foul play which is devastating.

2. Not Retaining talent:36% of American scientists and Doctors are Indians. Why do they go to America?Very simple, they din’t find in India, what they want.India has failed to retain talent which America has succeeded to lure talent from across the oceans

3. non-conducive atmosphere for Entrepreneurship :America contributes the highest percentage to the world economy. 80% of the companies in US are small companies/start ups.this is because investment environment is conducive for that in America.Investment practices are not well suited for start ups in India.Entrepreneurship has to catch up in India.

4. Inefficient Judiciary system:the lawsuit of Bhopal gas tragedy which happened in 1983 was concluded in 2010 ! many cases take generations to conclude and many others do not get concluded. Even if they do get concluded,to what extent they are just?lawyers, judges can be bought here, law can be bought, witnesses can be bought here;truth can be made lie and lie can be made true.Eyes of law statue are tied with cloth, law is blind!money and power can turnaround law here

5. Poverty and Unemployment :more than 50% of India’s population is below poverty line. In most cases it goes to such an extent that one person can tear away the flesh of the other if his week’s expenditure is paid.India’s strength lies in the number of people it has got and many of them are unproductive contributing nothing to India’s growth but taking away everything for their survival

6. Diversity in diversity : India is rightly called as a subcontinent.Diverse set of people, castes, regions, religions, climate… exist here which is good in a way but more than doing good it has harmed the country’s growth.so many internal clashes based on religion ,caste, region, power are not uncommon.”Unity in Diversity” is a phrase which is only found in textbooks!

7. Lack of access to info:70% of India’s population live in rural India.even the so called urban dwellers are unable to afford for Internet connection because of it’s cost. Not to speak of its rural counterparts, they don’t have any form of good information sources.

8. Population Explosion:so much of money is being spent in facilitating basic amenities for India’s enormous population. More than becoming a boon to the country’s growth,It’s population has turned out to be a curse

9. militant activities : There are so many militant activities that happen near India’s borders and has spread to cities recently. Nearly 25% of India’s budget is allocated to defence which is hindering growth to some extent.

People of our motherland,India also have to blame themselves for electing such a pathetic government, tolerating such judiciary system, being part of internal clashes, supporting corruption, etc etc

So, to boast of India being a superpower,it’s not enough to write the phrase in bold or to imagine India’s flag at the top but the systems forming the motherland have to be pecked at from their grassroots!!!

Glory Gallore/Myth ?

Yesterday, I was watching the Finals of Asia Cup 2010 between India and Sri lanka. India won and received loads of applauses yet again. Which reminds me of the last match where they lost the match with same team miserably. And no body remembered the loss.

Once in an ODI match, Dhoni made century after escaping enumerable chances of being caught. The commentators later made a very meticulous statement saying "Dhoni wont be known for his ticket-to-pavilion escapes but for all the records he ever made !".

Isn't it the same in all the fields ? Be it Bollywood where stars are not remembered for their behind-the-scene controversies (though sometimes to cast light on brighter side negating those controversies by justifications), but for the hits they made and the struggle they endured to get to the pinnacle.

Or, be it politics. Even though a politician has never done a remarkable deed all his life time, his stooges would point out the Garibi hatao Andolan (where he & the sycophants worked to improve their Garibi) as staff to hoist the flag of benevolence.

Food for Thought: Should we follow the same league or should we find a new way, where virtues don't sell ?
